Porcelain Diffusers

From a table in the distance Lee was able to spot two little porcelain figurines which caught his eye.

The 2 beautiful porcelain figurines are perfume diffusers.  By placing a scented oil at the base of the parasol the oil is disburse out in an aerosol to help fragrance your home.

These little figurines belong to a much larger set of perfume diffusers but still look great by themselves.  Has Lee found a bargain here or will he be left with a bad taste in his mouth?

Silver Coloured Container

It’s true that on occasion you come across something at a car boot that you just have the impulse to buy – and this week was no different as Lee picks up this Silver container which nobody really know what it’s used for?

As this item was purchased the seller advises that this container can be used as either an ashtray or a container for sweets but in any case it was a must have purchase this week from the local car boot.

As you can see from the first photograph above this is a silver globe that rests on four feet and has this beautiful decorative pattern engraved all around it.

As you cann see from the photos below the globe opens up to reveal a compartment which was highlighted as being an ashtray or for holding sweets and candy's.

As the seller was not a 100% sure what its true function was we can only speculate but the one thing worth noting is that it has a made in England stamp on the bottom which make a refreshing change.

Giraffe Figurines

Looking at this latest batch of goodies from this weeks car boot you'd think Neil and Lee had gone on Safari.

After the recent Giraffe craze that graced Facebook recently Lee couldn't resist this moulded Giraffes with gold painted finishes.
The Giraffes came as part of a bag of goodies which Lee picked up on his recent visit to the car boot.

The moulded Giraffes come as a set but there is a stranger amongst them.
Below is this beautiful hand carved wooden Giraffe with hand painted markings.  Sadly the paint has worn so the Giraffe can only be photographed from his best side.

Will these beautiful giraffes find a good home?

Carpenter’s Marking Gauge

On a recent visit to their local carboot, Neil and Lee come across a very interesting item.

This is a very interesting piece of carpentry tool, the design and use of which can be dated back as early as the 1600’s.

This is an old style Carpenters gauge these types of tools have been around for hundreds of years and the basic principles of the tool are still in use today.

Although we cannot say how old this tool is exactly it does appear to be old and made from a maple or birch wood.

The Gauge is about 12 inches long and has a block of wood that slides up and down the length of the piece which can be set at any position down the length by a separate wedge that locks the block into place.

This allowed Carpenters to mark/score parallel lines down pieces of wood prior to cutting.

The gauge does show signs of use but has obviously been looked after over all these years.

Electronic Battleships Loading instructions (1979 Version)
Step 1 - Place your 5 individual ships anywhere on the bottom gaming grid making sure your opponant does not see.
Step 2 - Switch the game on
Step 3 - Place the game into load mode (This switch is normaly located on the opposite side of the board so your opponant may need to do this for you).
Step 4 - Place your slider controls over the CLE and CM positions and press both buttoms.
*** Please note its important to clear the games memory first before proceeding with a new one as the game will on occassion retain the last game played in its memory """
Step 5 - Each of your 5 ships will have a different number of holes which corresponds to a location on the gaming grid.  Using your slider controls enter each of the holes locations makiing sure that your press the lower slider button, and upper slider button and then followed by the fire button.  Each of the three buttons will beep as you enter in the holes grid location.  (The fire button locks in the position).   Once the you have completed this sequence of presses move onto the next hole and repeat this process.
There are 17 holes in total which you have to program into the games memory.  Once the last of the 17 holes has been entered the game will give out an audible beep.
*** Note when entering your ships locations, each of the slider buttons must beep - if they fail to beep then the location is not being accepted by the game.  If this happens please make sure your sliders are sitting correctly at the right position - if this fails to resolve the issue please start over from step 1 """
Its is now your opponanats turn to enter in their ships locations  (repeat step 5).
When your opponant has finished, just as before an audible beep will sound after the last of the 17 holes has been entered.
Step 6 - Now that your ships locations have been stored into the games memory slide the game from "Load" to "Go" mode.
And there you have it - your ready to commnce battle on the high seas.
Good Luck - and remember, the captain always goes down with the ship..

The Office Season 1 and 2 Box Set

Not everyone's "cup of tea", but a great find. Watch our video to find out how much we paid for this classic box set. We'll list this on Ebay in a few days and update this post with the selling price. As you would expect, being based in the UK, we're big fans of the original releases.
Update - No luck with Ebay. We tried a 99p auction, with £1.50 p&p, but it didn't sell. Which is just as well, because we would have made a loss.
I'm going to keep this box set, or give it to someone as a gift. Was it a boot sale bargain? You decide.

St Kilda Summer

Update - No sale on Ebay. We tried £4.00 inc p&p, but had no luck, probably because there are plenty of copies about, for less money. Was this a boot sale bargain? See the video and judge for yourself. I'm going to give this book away as a gift to someone I know, so I'm happy.
